This CSL inspired trunk lid, made by Carbon Fiber specialist Carbon8, fits all 2007+ E92 3 series coupes and saves precious weight over the heavy steel stock BMW trunk lid. It also looks great, especially if you are into the naked carbon fiber look. This particular trunk lid's styling has a slightly swept up rear edge, reminiscent of the E46 M3 CSL -- which also had a carbon fiber trunk lid with an integral "spoiler" edge built into it.
We were pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of this trunk lid, particularly at this price. The trunk lid fits as good as any other carbon fiber lid we've come accross. Some modifications and provisions need to be made to fit all trunk auxiliary components, such as lighting, trunk latch, hood shocks, emblems and interior trunk trim -- which is why we highly recommend professional installation on these (even if you're not having it painted). As with any carbon fiber or fiberglass body panel, extra time and preparation will be required to ensure the best fitment and installation. While no aftermarket body panels fit as perfectly as original OEM BMW panels, we were very satisfied with the overall quality and fit of these trunk lids. If you are mounting it unpainted to keep the carbon fiber visble, this trunk lid already comes with a clear gelcoat finish so that it is already exactly how you'd want it.
